Peace Plaza Design Competition

In August 2023, Stoudamire Wellness Hub and our community were the victims of someone deliberately slamming his truck into the main entrance to the building while programming was taking place. The entrance has been temporarily secured, the programming continues, and The Stoudamire’s members and staff are determined to move forward.

Working through the trauma, we recognized an opportunity to build something new that recognizes/uplifts our community.

About the Competition

Eastside Community Network is transforming the entrances of Stoudamire Wellness Hub (The Stoudamire) into Peace Plaza — and we’re inviting the entire community to participate in the process and share their creative vision for the plaza’s design!

We aim for Peace Plaza to be a space for healing and wellness, serving as a place for:

Art & Creation
Connection & Collaboration
Rest & Reflection
Personal Growth
Communing with Nature

Competition Participation

We want the entire community to participate in this competition — including our youth, adults, elders, artists, residents, neighborhood groups, grassroots organizations, students, academic partners, and local organizations! You may submit a design as an individual, a team, or an organization.

Design Submission Rules

Submissions must uplift the value of environmental sustainability, peace, and physical accessibility.

Design submissions can include:

2D Media
3D Media
Written Words
Painting
Fabric
Drawings
Other Materials

Designs must be submitted on a 24” x 36” Foamcore Board (ECN will provide these materials).

Competition Prize

The winning designers will:

Receive a cash prize, and
Work with ECN and our architects to bring their vision life
Participate in the plaza’s grand opening

All competition entries will be exhibited:

Exhibited at Stoudamire Wellness Hub
Published in a limited edition ECN coffee table book
Published digitally on ECN’s website
